OK quick story quick question.
My Race Bike is an 04 Hayabusa, and while it is by no means Bling it is definately a Rocket. I recently clocked 192MPH at the Texas Mile with it and it is still a streetable everyday driver. A year ago when i started getting ready to go Land Speed Racing I started doing a step online with photos of Mods and installs some videos etc etc.
So here's the question would Bling Rockets members be interested in following this stuff even though it's more Rocket and less Bling?

Well to get to a starting point we are going to have to go back in time a little.
It all started out last year like this:
Memorial Day weekend me and SRAD(my Husband) went on a nice little roadtrip. About a 1000 miles up to see my stepDad and my sister then down some nice twisty central Texas roads. I rode my new 07 GSXR750 and SRAD rode his RC51. OK he's a little older and banged up from years of fighting, Racing and all of the stuff you guys do to yourselves when your young and dumb. So when we got home he was pretty beat up wrists neck shoulders from the riding position on the RC51. We discussed things and he thought that a Busa would be more comfortable to travel on than the RC51.
At the time I worked in F&I for FamilyPowerSports.com the largest PowerSports Dealer in Texas with 5 stores(Lubbock , Odessa, McKinney SanAngelo and Weatherford) well I started shopping Busa's in our stores. We had about 7 in stock but nothing real nice. Then one day it showed up. A super clean low mileage one owner Blue and Silver 04 Busa with Yosh slip-ons. Turns out SRAD knew the bike personally and it had never been raced!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010019.jpg
Well it was a done deal I bought it before it ever hit the sales floor. What happened next was well,, I guess where this all started.
I had just come off of a Championship year in Endurance RoadRacing and my Sponsor at the time(FamilyPowerSports) didn't feel that RoadRacing was giving them enough local exposure. So they asked me about DragRacing and even discussed giving me a Bike to race! Well I wasn't ready for DragRacing never tried it and it looks pretty scarey so I took a pass. Well one thing led to another SRAD and I discussed Land Speed Racing and decided after some research that I was going to try and be the first Woman to go 200MPH without Nitrous or Turbo.
Well we allready had the Busa and SRAD started pitching it to Perspective Sponsors.

Now lets start out here by saying a few important things that everyone probably needs to know.
Yes I have a Racing Resume' Yes I won an Endurance SuperSport RoadRacing Championship Yes I work for a Dealership Yes I have rode just about everything out there And I have 7 years of racing experience BUT:
I realize that the main reasons I got sponsored at the end of the day were :
In no particular order
Women like Danica Patrick, Angelle Sampey, Karen Stouffer and Leslie Portetfield have brought Women Racers to the forefront in the Media and right now Sponsors realize that Women Racers get attention, more so than the Guys.
Sorry Boys Sponsors pick the Racers that win AND the Racers everyone looks at.
I'm young skinny big chested and blonde(thats what marketing people want)
and most importantly
I had SRAD selling me to the Sponsors(something he does it very well,,, errr uhhh ,,,,I mean well you know what I mean):1 (60):
I guess what I'm trying to say is there are some very talented and capable Guy Racers out there that didn't get the support I got because they weren't Female and didn't have such a great Manager.
So anyway thats where things got started there's more to come

Well the first thing to go was the Yoshimuira Slip-ons,
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010026.jpg
and they were replaced with a full system from Brock Davidson of Brock's Performance.
http://brocksperformance.com/
and a few other goodies.
Removal and installation is actually pretty easy the hardest part being removing the bodywork. If you unbolt the radiator then theres enough wriggle room in there to pull the old pipe and install the new stuff.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/parts.jpg
The first step was to install the exhaust.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010036.jpg
Most aftermarket systems are lighter than stock which often = thinner which = alot of heat. We we didn't want to risk hot pipes and pretty factory plastic so the pipe got a nice new set of clothes header wrap.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010039.jpg
I did learn AFTER the fact that its easier to install if it wet and it's probably a good idea to wear gloves when messing with this stuff.
Halfway done!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010040.jpg
Well the thing is since your allready there you might as well go ahead and do the P.A.I.R. valve block offs and the P.A.I.R. Valve removal. Basically this is emissions crap designed to inject cool air into the head at the exhaust to help burn any unburned fuel that sneaks out of the cylinders.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010030.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010033.jpg
Just a little piece of advice here.
I have a sneaking suspicion that some day exhaust testing will come to bikes like it has cars and they might start checking for emissions parts so hang onto that junk.

Well there's more air going out the back end lets try to get some moving in the front. First off the it's off with the seat and up with the tank

You never know how long your going to be gone or who might come by while your gone(kids are the worst about dropping things in holes!) So it's good idea to plug everything up with some clean red rags till we get back.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/w.jpg
Out with the airbox and into the Shop. I used a right angle die grinder to do the cutting and that might have been a mistake. It was really quick and easy but it slung hot plastic stringy gunk everywhere!

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/3-1.jpg
WOW! Thats ugly!Well common sense tells you rough edges = dirty air flow so lets clean it up some with a rotary file and then some scotchbrite
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/1-1.jpg
I finished up from here by blowing everything out cleaning it up nice then I took a piece of the scrap and fashioned a nice round plug to go in the center. I glued it in place with some 3M Emblem adhesive. The same thing as 3M yellow but its clear. It can dry while we are doing other stuff!
Next step sorry guys I forgot to take pics but before I re-installed I swapped out the two long factory velocity stacks out for two short ones. If you look in your airbox you will see 2 short and 2 long velocity stacks on many modern SportBikes. The reason is the long stacks create more velocity and increase lowend power. The short ones flow more volume and increase topend power. So the manufacturers decided to try for the best of both worlds by tuning 2 cylinders towards lowend and two towards topend. A quick swap to all 4 the same will add low or top end depending one short or long. And it's a cheap mod I'm thinking it was under $30.
OK almost ready to button things up but theres still another project while we are in here. I have some improved ramair tube seals but thats for tomorrow

Too bad she's married :(For who?:2CrazyLOL:
So while I had things apart I noticed that the ramair tubes seal to the frame with some little strips that look like window weatherstripping! Thats ridiculous! How is a little piece of foam going to seal against a190MPH windblast? I called a local gasket company LoneStar Gasket and asked them what they had for what I needed.
We they basically said come on down and lets see what you need and IF we can help.
So after a short drive, a few smiles an winks the shop guys were falling all over each other trying to help me!hahah And after rummaging through the scrap pile I got just what i needed for FREE!
Well if I'm going to be working on the HeavyBus I need to have it stable so first thing is a set of Swingarm Bobbins/Sliders Thanks to FamilyPowerSports.com for the hookup. Just screw them in tighten up

and

well,,,
I just don't have enough weight
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010018.jpg
I really don't understand how he just does it with one hand like it's no big deal!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010019-1.jpg
So me and Heidi started out with this sheet of closed cell foam.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010043.jpg
I held a piece of thin cardstock up to the ramair tube on the airbox and drew the outline. Next I cut it out and put it back up to the airbox and pressed it just enough to make a ridge where the inside of the tube was.
I then folded the pattern in 1/2 and cut out the hole. I took the completed pattern and traced it on top of the foam. I used one of those razor knives that has the blade that slides out and you snap off the dull part one section at a time(Olfa knife?). You have to be very careful here because you need about 3" of the knife wrapped in tape to hold onto and the rest for cutting.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/knife.jpg
Just slowly saw till you get the inside hole cut do the inside FIRST! Then do the outside trust me thats the easiest safest way.
The foam I used was about 1/4" too thick and made it difficult to compress it enough to get the airbox in place so slightly thinner would be good. This stuff has an adhesive on one side and thats very handy for holding it in place when your ready to install.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010039-1.jpg
SRADkneedragger
07-17-2009, 12:11 AM
Now while your right there you might as well go ahead and seal the ramair tubes to the frame rails this basically gives the air no where to go but straight into the motor at speed.
First clean everything up nice with some glasscleaner

hey marie cool vids, how do the runs work .you get so far to get it up to speed then they clock ya for a mile after that certain point,, dont no much obout it. i do no leslie porterfield is the fastest female record holder. i guess of three records on speed runs turbo busa i think 234.197mph did ya see the artical in two wheel tuner last month .thats awsom to see ya working on the bike also not just a jocky. good luck on your up coming runs and be safe ...steve
Well the main focus right now is on Land Speed Racing
From a first hand account, an LSR focus is plenty. Folks are not aware, I wasn't aware, of how hard LSR actually is. As you've found out already there is allot of technique involved amongst getting the bike just right. At "The Mile" I've only been able to get to 180 on a semi-stock 14; that baby was tapped out.
Great vid! I like Tim's style allot! You seem to have a great team, crew, and support group. :thumbup1:
SRADkneedragger

The Texas Mile may very well be one of the hardest venues in Land Speed Racing. From a dead stop you have one mile to accelerate to top speed, well ALMOST 1 mile as the last 132 feet are the timing trap. Then 1/2 mile to shut down.
Think of it more as a 1 mile long Drag Race! You really need a good launch but then you really have to make as much time as possible quick shifts correct shift points, It's all over in about 20 seconds,,,,,oh and DON'T RUN OUT OFF FUEL! :2CrazyLOL:
thats a whole other story for later in the thread.
There are lots of compromises such using bar spacers to lower the front, good to get down and stable bad because it pulls your hands back up closer to the wind blast. Running HIGH tire pressure reduces rolling resistance and frees up HP but reduces steering feel(I'm used to running VERY low pressure on the RoadRacers and usually ride my streetbike at 28 front 30 rear) just makes it really vague. On the rear you really have a problem. 40 to 50 psi in the rear and the HeavyBus feels like rolling a bicycle around the parking lot! Problem is as soon as you touch the throttle the tire goes up in smoke!
run lower pressure and it hooks great bt now you have increased rolling resistance. Tuning becomes an issue because how are you going to simulate the ramair from 180MPH when you start tuning?
Ever heard of Wind Shear? Try that at 180!
All in all if you live anywhere near Texas this might be your best option if your interested in LSR. $200 for 2 days $300 for three days unlimited runs great people cool Cars and Bikes.
Tech is pretty simple probably the easiest in LSR, safety wired fillers drains and axles good tires and gear and away you go!

Looking good! You going down a tooth or two in the front? When I tapped that 14 out it had modified gearing and would only do 180. I'd love to be there, if and when, you end up hitting the salt flats; it's a whole different world isn't it.

I have a quick question, and hopefully this isn't off topic...where you at any of the landspeed events where the unfaired record holding busa was. I have seen pics of the bike in the past when it broke 200 mph...I love the bike because it brakes the big-tire stereo type that big tire bikes can't perform as it has always ran a 240 on the rear. If so we would luv to hear about your LSR experiences and some of the people that you met...I know alot of car guys go there also....pics would be nice.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010023.jpg
OK before you take anything else loose! the suspension is still holding the bike up so if you take the dogbones loose the bike would fall straight down!
So the bike is on the swingarm lift in the rear and we are installing the swingarm pivot lift to support the bike. You could do the same with a floor jack under the motor if you are carefull not to let it tip.

OK now the bike is supported by the swingarm pivot lift and the swingarm tire and wheel is supported by the swingarm stand.

Basically I just lifted the Bus just enough to take the bind off of the bolts. Next I ,,,,, uhhhhh OOOPS!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010031.jpg
Once the load is off the bolts they just slide right out
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010027.jpg
OK once the load is off the bolt just slides right out and hangs on THE TAILPIPE!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010028.jpg
HHHMMMMM I didn't see that in the directions anywhere!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010031.jpg
OFF comes the pipe, or at least loosen it up enough to get the bolt out.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010029.jpg
and in go the new Brock's Adjustable Links. A little note here, when you pull the stock dogbones out one points left one points right. IF you put them BOTH back in from the chain side then you don't have to worry about them hanging up on the exhaust pipe!

OK here's the view with both bolts going the same direction
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010035.jpg
Once you get both links in you can tighten them up
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010050.jpg
then you can,,,,
Hello?
uh OK 15 minutes thats my Dad I gotta go pretty quick.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010052.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010049.jpg
Adjust them one at a time just a 1/2 turn at a time so you don't twist the suspension links and get them in a bind.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010043.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010046.jpg
The really nice thing about the ADJUSTABLE Lowering Links is that in a matter of minutes your up for street riding or in the weeds digging a trench.
The nice thing about the Brock's Lowering Links is that they have a little window in the side so that you can see just how much of the bolt is engaged and won't screw them out too far!
OK I gotta go Dad is her so it you and SRAD

Introduction time.
I'm SRAD, Marie's Old Man Crew Chief Mechanic little B!T(# What ever. I spin the wrenches she twists the throttle. Shortly after Marie and I got together and she started beating the pants off of my sons RoadRacing I figured out she was a far better Rider than any of us So I stepped back and let her do what she does best, Ride FAST. I generally don't mess with the internet stuff too much thats her deal but
Marie bailed out on my butt and left me here to drop the front. BELIEVE THIS it's going down like the Titanic! First off lets get everything loose EXCEPT the top pinch bolts.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010065.jpg
Marie already installed the GenMar Risers so I'm just going to loosen everything up let is slide down then tighten all the pinch bolt back up.
(I kind of Jumped ahead here becauseI had allready installed the GenMars so thats going to be out of order a little Marie) And you might as well forget a Torque wrench cause it ain't going in there.
Once everything was loose on the lower triple clamp I loosened the top tripleclamp pinch bolts and allowed the bike to drop rotating the fork tubes a few degrees each directions just to make sure they are bottomed out against the bottom of the handlebarmount.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010064.jpg
Well getting to the lower pinch bolts was tough before it's impossible now so with a little ingenuity I'm going to tighten the top pinch bolts and then lift the front of the bike to allow me a little more room to access the lower triple clamp pinch bolts.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010069.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010068.jpg
So I guess your wondering where Marie had to go so quick? Well It was Wednesday night and that her and her Dad's night ,,,,,
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/tennis.jpg
To play Tennis. Yeah I know we all have own own private burdens to bear,,,, this is mine I married a Tennis Player! OH! THe shame of it all!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/tennis1.jpg
And of course she shows just in time to claim credit for it all.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010083.jpg
Really it's a team effort here and if you haven't figured it out yet this is about Marie and her Quest I'm just the guy behind the scenes.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/10-15-08/P1010086.jpg
Thanks everyone all the advice and support really has helped! I'm really looking forward to seeing what she does this weekend testing

OK doubling up here to try and get Bling Rockets caught up a little quicker so here's the handlebar riser install. As you probably allready know the easiest fastest way to get a Busa Lowered in the front is with a HandleBar Spacer. This particular one was part of my Sponsorship Package with the great Guys at GenMar so here's the install
Well my best friend Tanya came by today(her big mistake!) I drafted her to help me out with the GenMar Handlebar Risers. This will allow us to drop the front of the Bus by sliding the forks up through the clamps, which I'll do laters first I have to get the Lowering links in and find a stock kickstand I can cut off. Any one have a spare laying around?
So as you might have guessed I STILL can't get the Heavy Bus on the stand by myself.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010007.jpg
Some cool new shirts showed up from Brock's Performance so you know we had to try them on.

HEY! WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT!?
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010005.jpg
So lets get started installing the GenMar handlebar Risers.
First off you better cover the tank with something. IF you do you won't drop a thing, if you don't well you know
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010011.jpg
If there is a way to get these things out somebody tell me! they just wouldn't come out!

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010013-1.jpg
Bars finally off! and spacer on!

here's a little closer look see'
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010015.jpg
The bars go back on top and NEW bolts go in.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010016-1.jpg
Yeah O.K. It was a blonde moment I put all four bolts in but they were too short! I tried wiggling everything and pushing the rubbers up from the bottom then I realized I was using the stock bolts! Well DUH! So I got the new LONGER ONES.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010017.jpg
If you look from the side you can see just how much it raised the bars.

Hey everyone!
OK here's the updates.
The deal with Nitrous Express is all but a done deal(Contract work) so
I am going with a wet system and a Maximizer.
My Boss got a wild hair Thursday afternoon and decided to take my TEST GolfCart to the 1/8th Mile DragStrip. So with a short charge cycle and the wrong Motor I said sure lets go for it!
Now let me explain for those that don't know, the company I work for builds Electric Vehicle Controllers. This means everything from stock GolfCart replacement Controllers to Electric Car and Truck conversions. We build Controllers for several of the Nations fastest Electric Vehicles on a custom basis also. I have a custom tube chassis Electric Race Car that is supposed to be coming but its been nearly a year in the wait.
So back to the Test GolfCart. It has to be capable of testing our larger Contollers so its wired for 120 Volts. It has run over 70MPH GPS'ed on several occasions, and 100MPH should be no problem, except for oh wheelies and traction problems and steering and,,,,
So the idea was just take it out with tires and wheels and a torque strap on the motor.
One of the things we are VERY interested in is getting the HotRod GolfCart Market so we want to run something that LOOKS like a STOCK GolfCart.
As you can see it looks stock except for wide rear tires and skinny fronts.
Thor, Jim(the Owner) and me
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/GolfCars/P1010002.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/GolfCars/P1010005.jpg
We we got alot of jeers and laughs when we lined the Carts up, Me on the Test GolfCart and the Owners son Thor on a small controller Cart.
well without a full charge and with a bad Motor(we didn't know till later) it turned out like this
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/GolfCars/P1010013.jpg
Most GolfCarts are capable 12 to 15MPH so at 28MPH our "stock Club Car" was double the speed of any GolfCart at the track.
I was pretty disappointed with just a 11.59 @ 54.80 but it sure did what we wanted, generate interest! :aplaudir: So I'm looking at about 2 or 3 weeks to get back to racing with this cart and we are talking about adding wheelie bars a steering dampener and traction bars.

Yeah there was alot of that at the dragstrip!:Laugh3:
I think once we get a fresh blueprinted motor in it and a full charge on the batteries it should be a show! Plus when it goes back I'm taking either the HeavyBus or my GSXR750.

OOOPS! almost forgot to update Bling Rockets!
OK time for a little more catch up. Things have rocking along and the Texas Mile is getting closer so here we go.
Our good friend Terry F is taking his Hayabusa to the Texas Mile this year so SRAD has been helping him prep it.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019407.jpg
Last weekend the installed the Boost by Smith DeRistrictor which is supposed to do the same thing as the T.R.E. but better. Improved Idle and lower gear mapping(similar to a Gear Position Sensor Mod) the only thing that changes is the 6th gear map, which the ECU thinks is still in 5th thus defeating the speed limiter. This is a plug and play installation just unplug the GPS and insert it between the plugs. Terry had already bought some exhaust I think it's the Hotbodies, so the next step was safety wiring. According to SRAD this is a secret arcane art.
Most of the bolts can be drilled on the bike so the job isn't too bad. We left Terry Guido and SRAD in the shop to do it. After a few hours of drilling, cool drink breaks oh and about a dozen drill bits the bike was done. Me and the Girls were having a ladies day in the Kitchen cooking Lasagna for the guys and just doing all of the things girls do when the guys are not around.(NO! Were were NOT having Pillow fights in our underwear! Why do all guys think that!?).
I came out to give Terry the quick rundown on safety wiring.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019411.jpg
Well Terry was amazed at the Safety Wire Pliers! Both of our sets are old school airplane twisters SRAD says are very old all I know is that they work very well, and he guards them like a treasure. So a few quick pointers and Terry was on his way to twisting wire.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019413.jpg
Things went pretty quick from there with a break for dinner than Terry wanted to get some pics of his bike and asked us girls to help.
Misty and Tammy helped him get it on the stand. Funny thing why is it you Guys always seem to do this all by your self until there's girls around?
SRADkneedragger
09-01-2009, 11:36 PM
So Misty and Tammy gave Terry a little hand.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019404.jpg
Which strangely enough turned into "Hey How about you girls take a pic with my Bike?" We should have known better!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019401.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019410.jpg
Hahaha little did he know what was next!
YOU wanted something, help with your bike and some "Girly Pics" Now it's OUR turn! Polish the HeavyBus!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019420.jpg
AND polish the Nail Polish!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019422.jpg
As you can see SRAD and Guido were smart enough to steer clear of the Estrogen zone, they basically threw Terry under the Bus! Or maybe they threw him under the HeavyBus!hahahahaha

Well here's picture of all of the Girls after we watched the Divine secrets of the YAYA sisterhood and before they called it a night and headed home.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019424.jpgThanks to Misty Katy Tammy and Tanya(she left early) for helping with Dinner lets do it again!
Well lets get down to business. As I said earlier GuyKaputo at Tiger Racing
http://www.1st-to-the-finish-line.com/index.html
put together a nice sponsorship package chief among the things he set us up with was this cool aero front fender that he builds.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019436.jpg
SRAD was really amazed at the quality he said it looked like a hand laid one off because the quality was so high and there are even dimples to line up the drill for mounting holes. I used a small pilot bit to start the hole so it would be centered. And as a bonus,, SRAD's storage box for the drill got free ventilation holes.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019433.jpg
You might notice the handy cordless Dewalt drills in the picture strangely enough every single battery for both drills was down. This resulted in a small tantrum on SRADs part and having to use a 110 volt plug in drill to do Terry's bike.
HAHahah By the time I got to the fender Mine was charged up!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019435.jpg
SRADkneedragger
09-01-2009, 11:38 PM
Well with everything drilled it's time to install Tiger Racings new aero fender on the HeavyBus. Amazingly easy straight forward bolt on just 3 over here
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019438.jpg
Three more over here, believe it or not it bolted pretty much straight on with no mods!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019440.jpg
and there ya go! This fender was designed to help push air not only over the front of the bike but also out around the sides. The radiator and oil cooler basically act like a great big air brake by restricting and slowing air flow, so pushing the air out and to the sides rather than into the Radiator should slick things up some. Great for LSR not so great for the street.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019454.jpg
As you can see with the new 6" stretch, dropped and the new fender it looks like a different bike! Now my personal preference is to paint the fender to match the HeavyBus But SRAD has a good point in that leaving it white draws much more attention to a Sponsored product. What do YOU think?
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1019444.jpg
There's no doubt that from this angle it looks all business! I can't wait to get the chain on and do a few test runs!

Well I have been hinting around for a while as of this afternoon it's official!
I just got picked up by
NITROUS EXPRESShttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/NOS.gifhttp://www.nitrousexpress.com/
They put together a great package for me with a wet F.I. system a progressive controller 2 2.5 lb bottles pressure gauge and some other goodies!
No more Mrs. Nice Girl it's time to get down and dirty! I'm going to test with the progressive controller and smaller shots(30/40HP) first but if things feel good,,,, we may pour the 100 shot to it!:trust:
I made a deal with SRAD this evening, I would make homemade pizza IF
SRAD would paint the fender. (A fair trade I thought seeing as I'm going to have to cook anyway! ;) )Not so much the real deal just some of that duplicolor that they sell at the auto parts store just to see if I would like the pattern.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010014-4.jpg
I think it turned out pretty good but the paint isn't a perfect match so that may be a reason to go to the paint store and see if they can mix something a little closer.
Once again thanks to Guy Kaputo at Tiger Racing for his help!
http://www.1st-to-the-finish-line.com/index.html

That's a cool fender...have you ever thought of going with the Rad-busa aero kit that is made by Airtech...they say that it helped a fairly stock busa atain 200 mph strickly because of the aerodynamics!!! I am also curious about something I hear that some magazine is running an LSR event this month, are you attending??? I would like to do an LSR event on my B-king, just to see what it is like, post up some info on how we can look into the dates, rules, and regs about these type events.

Mirrors seat rail,, this Bike sees some street use and thats the reason for the Mirrors in the pics we have been riding on the street. They are the first thing to go when I race

How much nitrous? Well thats a difficult question. a 30 shot in the upper gears would be un noticeable. 50 or a 100 should be doable with the progressive controller. I guess it boils down to how the bike feels with it I'll probably test with 30 and just step up until It scares me.:2CrazyLOL:

That's a cool fender...have you ever thought of going with the Rad-busa aero kit that is made by Airtech...they say that it helped a fairly stock busa atain 200 mph strickly because of the aerodynamics!!! I am also curious about something I hear that some magazine is running an LSR event this month, are you attending??? I would like to do an LSR event on my B-king, just to see what it is like, post up some info on how we can look into the dates, rules, and regs about these type events.
Well you could go to
http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30019
You might have to register to be able to see the pics and it's long read but if your really serious it will take you step by step to get to where i am now
This is pretty much the whole story from day one step by step. OR you could go here and take a look at the Motorcycle tech sheet

I finaly broke in my B-king and had a chance to realy get on it...man it is hella fast...I would just like to get the opportunity to see its top capabilities on a closed course. I'm thinking that in the future when some of my other projects are done I would like to purchase a supercharger kit from Big CC racing and do some real racing. :turbosmiley:

I know there was talk about someone running a B-King at the Mile I think you should give it a try. I would look into whether or not a Deristrictor from Boost by Smith would work on the B-Kings (I'm sure it will) then a little safety wire and new ZR tires you'll be set!

I checked with them, but I think that the 2008 bikes have a problem with his ecu flashing devices. I do plan to run the ecu flash that he make for my busa though...they say that it has more features than a full on dyno-jet kit.
I realy think you should also check into that RadBusa bodywork, I have seen it with the stock headlights and I bet it would give you some free MPH

I checked the site about the Texas Mile, and I'm now desperately trying to work out my finances to see if I could afford to go. I see that they have pics of a B-king that looks all stock running the mile!!!! The bike honestly feels stronger than my 1st Gen Busa, so I am curious to see what it does up top with all the limiters, etc. I think the only thing that may be holding me back is that I would have to purchase new leathers as I sold my old ones about a year ago. If not I am deffinately planing to make an event in the next month or so...its just one of those "bucket list" items for me.

I know all of the slots are full for the October Texas Mile although there are stand by slots. Basically this means that you can't run until someone leaves. (In March everyone on teh standby lsit got to run on Sunday) Now peaking of limiters hers a neat little way to avoid the top speed limiter on some Suzukis!
OK guys lets get the ball rolling.
The last two times I went to the Texas Mile I ran an IVAN'S T.R.E. (Timing Retard Eliminator). Suzuki uses a signal from the G.P.S. (Gear Position Sensor) to tell the ECU the Bike is in 6th gear. The ECU then retards the timing to prevent the bike from running above 186MPH. The T.R.E. Tells the ECU that the Bike is in 5th gear all of the time allowing it to pull as far as the engine has power to pull. The problem is this equals a rough idle in neutral and less than optimal mapping because the ECU is running the 5th gear map in all gears.
So after some research We have decided to run the Boost By Smith De-Restrictor. The De-Restrictor tells the ECU the correct values in every gear until 6th which it then tells the ECU is still 5th. Eliminating the top speed restriction without the shortfalls of a T.R.E.. Also the price is considerably cheaper about $30 US. The De-Restrictor comes in two Models one for Suzuki's with a gear position read out on the Dash and those without a gear indicator. If you have a bike with a gear indicator the De-Restrictor with a switch on it is the one you want. This allows you to turn it on or off which makes the Gear Position readout on the Dash read normally and leaves the speed restriction in place until the switch position is changed.
This is our friend Hugo he is headed to the Texas Mile Land Speed Races with us. I ran his stock 08 Busa in March to a best of 182MPH. So hopefully with the DeRestrictor it will run bigger numbers. Hugo offered to use his Bike for the Install pics so here we go
Hugo and the De-Restrictor, compared to the business card you can see it's pretty small overall just some plugs and wire and a switch all in abrasion resistant sleeve.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010013-5.jpg
Off with the seat and then up with the Tank(if you need more detailed instructions on this get help! You need it)
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010007-3.jpg
Once the Tank is up this is what your going to see on the left side of the bike(most Suzuki's are going to be the same as the Busa) there are two white plugs under here with 3 wires each.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010010-2.jpg
Now heres the trick, one of these plugs goes to the Fuel pump/Fuel Tank, The other one goes down to the G.P.S. so you want to unplug the one that DOES NOT go to the Fuel tank!
Now just plug the De-Restrictor into the two sides of the plug you just undid.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010014-5.jpg
Pretty simple so far right? Should look like this
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010015-3.jpg
At this point a good test to make sure the De-Restrictor is plugged in correctly is to turn the bike on and shift it through the gears(you may have to rock it back and forth to get it to shift) OR you can have a buddy help you pull the clutch in start the bike and shift it through the gears.
If you have plugged it into the correct plug your gear indicator will show 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and then when you shift into 6th it will display 6th for about 1 second then the display will read 5th! IF it displays 6th gear and doesn't change back to 5th try flipping the switch.
Just like that your Bike is now De-Restrcted. The next and final step is deciding where to mount the switch. When we did Terry's Busa we drilled a small hole up near the front of the inner fairings out of sight. Hugo chose to go a little more stealth by placing it in the trunk
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010016-3.jpg
So just like that you just eliminated the top speed restriction on your Suzuki. Now for the disclaimer.
Disclaimer
This is probably illegal, immoral, unethical, environmentally irresponsible and should only be performed on racing machines which will never see use on public roads. Furthermore is you do this install and ride your bike at it's max speed it's not my fault if you crash, explode, become addicted to speed or blast a hole into the time space continuum resulting in the end of Mankind.
Happy riding

Boost by Smith makes an ECU reflasher that has better features than a complete powwer commander package with all the features of ignition avance, fuel ratio controls, adjustable rev limiter, and the ability to remove the factory limiters with out any side effects. Also you can remove it from the bike once you have reflashed all your adjustments so there is no need to locate a place on the bike for it like a PC.
I see they are giving you a hard time on some of the other sites, but don't fret, that is why I came to blingrockets...we luv all our bikers here!!!

You are correct about not making big changes that you have already nailed down...but I have a sneaky suspicion that you will be kicking yourself when you try the reflashing system if you go to a good mech that understands seting static timing, vacume related advances, removing the restrictors, setting fuel curves by individualy based rpm and gear, and rasing the rev-limiter on your bike to get that extra umph you need for the LSR events. Do a little research on it first then look into running a system.
I am also curious about the "not making major changes" spy pics of you with a NOS bottle that I am assume if intended for you LSR bike.:nx:...and here I was thinking they only bashed on the show-bike guys, but it seems that other forums don't even give a good looking LSR lady a chance!

I am truly sorry for disappointing everyone, I hope you will let me explain my actions. I have been under more stress in the last few weeks than I ever had in my entire life. I panicked and made the biggest mistake of my life. Between my brother, who has a drug problem and plays me to get money, my baby sister, who I just picked up from the Dallas area when she called saying she needed help due to drug abuse, that just moved in with us and is in her senior year of high school and "knows it all", work being extremely busy, new product line and pressure from a huge contract, I couldn't handle it at all, lashed out and almost lost the person I need and love the most. I am truly blessed that he was willing to let me back in his life, and I hope that my sponsors and readers will do the same. I am very sorry for disappointing my husband, my sponsors and all of my readers. I am going to work very hard to step back up to what everyone thought I could be.

After talking at length with Scott Guthrie we have come to the conclusion that I need about 5lbs of NO2 in order to spray 3,4,5,6. Also Mike at Nitrous Express helped us quite a bit at the Texas Mile told us that at 950psi bottle pressure the system is no where near it's 100hp rating!
So it looks like a bottle heater and another bottle at the very least between now and March!

Well I'm back!
With everything that has happened I finally have time to catch up. SRAD lost his job, mine has slowed down to 5 or 6 hours a week, We couldn't really afford the March races at the Texas Mile, the Iraan Rally got RE-Scheduled due to rain, So I finally have a little catch up time.
You all know when I started this the idea was to be the first Woman to go 200mph NA at the Texas mile. Well last March Jennifer Robertson made a pass on a borrowed bike and got that distinction.(Congrats Jen!)
So my focus became simply going 200mph. I had run into the 190's with the HeavyBus but we were pretty much at a dead end. Next step was big bore, cams or Nitrous. SRAD found a MPS Dry Fogger online and scored it dirt cheap. Next up was a phone call to the "Pro's" at Nitrous Express. I figured why not go straight to the man. Well long story short after some discussion a resume, and some paper work I would be running a Nitrous Express system!
The UPS man showed up with this
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010011-5.jpg
Well a couple of bottles and shirts and some boxes with stuff like this
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010180.jpg
So I got started with jets which they sent me a grip of and decided what HP I wanted to jet to
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010182.jpg
next you insert the jet in the nozzle and screw the hoses on do this for all four sets notice that everything is color coded red for Fuel blue for Nitrous
Now at this point I want to point out there was a ton of assembling test fitting and then taking back apart.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010183.jpg
Next up comes the showerheads, if you look to the left you will see the included gastank nipple they send for the extra fuel pump.

Shower heads go together and lines go on
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010189.jpg
Next up comes the solenoids QUICK REMINDER!! Nitrous Express say NO Teflon tape use the red stuff they send you exclusively!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010193.jpg
After the Nitrous system is assembled it gets a test fit to see where everything needs to be at
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010194.jpg
Next up heres a look at the intake runner before
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010208.jpg
OK so here's how things work roll the motor till the valves close on the cylinder your working on. Next you take a red rag and ball it around some safety wire and slather it with white grease(Easier to see). Coat the intake with grease and push the rag in.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010241.jpg
SRADkneedragger
04-19-2010, 04:31 AM
I pretty much let SRAD do all of this stuff because I don't really know anything about Taps and there really isn't much room here for error. but as you can see you drill a pilot hole then grease the Tap up and go in a few turns stop back it out and clean it start over repeat till its all the way in, I guess the real trick here is going slow and taking your time
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010236.jpg
Once you get the hole drilled and tapped pull the rag out clean things up in the intake make sure you get all of the shavings and grease blow it out with air. It should look like this with the hole in the Nozzle facing towards the valves.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010231.jpg
After all of the cylinders are drilled and tapped it's time to try and install this monster in there somewhere!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010253.jpg
Well lets see maybe this way,,,
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010243.jpg
We finally figured out that about the only place to put the Solenoids was over on the left side under the frame rail.

Man I didn't realize how late I stayed up typing this stuff!
OK here we go!
This view shows you where we put the fuel pump and fuel filter, pretty much a perfect fit in the valley on top of the Transmission. It was wrapped in closed cell foam to protect it from heat and vibration.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010255.jpg
If you look at the #2 cylinder nozzle in this picture this shows how careful you have to be with planning. We tried to keep the mounting positions all similar. When we got to #2 (We were working from the R to L) we drilled the hole and tapped it and discovered the Nozzle wouldn't screw in! The hose fittings were just about 1/16th of an inch to wide and hit the bulge for the thermostat housing!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010258.jpg
No sweat right? Just unscrew the fittings from the nozzle screw it in then screw in the fittings.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010184.jpg
WRONG! turns out the hose fittings are brass and the Nozzles are aluminum and they are put together with a locktite thread sealer, and before you can flinch it twisted off!
OH did I mention this was Saturday night about 10pm? Exactly 1 week before the races! Well while SRAD is wringing his hands, I pick up the phone and Call Mike at Nitrous Express(Yes I have cell phone numbers, yes they said call ANYTIME, yes this was pretty desperate) No sweat a new Nozzle showed up Tuesday morning!
Next up was the install of the electrics. Nitrous Express set me up with one of their 2 dial Digital Nitrous Controllers.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/ns50r/200MPH/P1010262.jpg
This is really the heart of this setup. Without it I would hit the button and the system would dump 100hp worth of fuel and nitrous instantly and the tire isn't going to like that at all!
With the Digital Controller you can control what %age of your total hp jetting that the Nitrous starts off at. For instance if your jetted for 100hp and set the Digital Controller to come on at 25% it will start out with a 25hp spray. From what I understand it works by fluttering the solenoids open and closed very fast, allowing only 25% of the total volume to pass. It also controls the "ramp" or the amount of time it takes for the system to increase the hp until it reaches the full amount it's jetted for.
So keeping the #'s easy you could jet for 100hp, hit the gas, it comes on at 25%(25hp) and increases over 3 seconds to 100%(100hp).
Now everything is adjustable from starting %age to length of time to full power. Pretty cool huh?
Finally! Something I can do! I work with electronics all day building electric vehicle controllers so this is easy! As a bonus the instructions are pretty clear.

Marie, thank you very much for posting up your install. You know I'm a big land speed (1 mile) fan so you always have my complete attention. Sorry to hear about SRAD out of work. All I can say is you guys just got to keep your chins up and hang in there. Things will pick up. Thanks again for posting up and keeping everyone here on BR in the loop.
Nice set up Marie. Thanks for the pics.

Guys financially we are in great shape everything we own is paid for except my streetbike and it's not much so $1000 a month lets us live comfortably. As for installing the Nitrous if I had known it was this simple, I would have went straight to the dope from the start!
Now lets wrap this up!
Well here's a pic of the tailsection, talk about "Junk in tha Trunk"! As you can see I tried to keep everything nice neat and wrapped to prevent a mess or abrasion.

Pretty much a nice neat clean install and a really nice fit!
The system is set up with an on off Rocker switch with a flip up cover to arm the system. Come on, really? Yeah I guess you can blame "The Fast and THe Furious" but you have got to have a "Cool" Nitrous arming switch! I mean the cool points went right off the meter when I installed that baby!hahahah.
There is a Wide open micro switch on the throttle bellcrank.

So it's a double failsafe you toggle has to be activated and then it only fires while the Throttle is pinned. Roll off or flip the switch and the system becomes inert.
This set up jetted for 100HP was good enough for me to get my 200mph T-Shirt. As a matter of fact I ran 201.534mph and had more but ran out of gearing. A second problem that we face with this setup is that at 100hp I am using 1.5lbs of nitrous from a 2.5lb bottle. This is 60% of my total volume in a few seconds so I'm losing bottle pressure due to volume loss and due to emptying so fast. Nitrous Express has offered me a few options, among them Nitrogen push and a larger bottle volume. Scott Guthrie always seems to have time to talk to me a really nice guy and he felt that a 5lb bottle would solve my problems.
But thats another story. where I'm at with this set up dialed in and fired up I ran 199mph straight out of the trailer and backed it up with a 201.534mph!
