I thought all R1 exhaust are under-tail. I'd say use lowering links and air ride just for exhaust clearance over the rear tire. I'm told if the air ride fails the lowering link(s) will keep the tail (the exhaust in your case) from hitting the rear tire. Any truth to this guys?

You can run a voo doo exhaust or a micron moto gp exhaust.

I run an air ride on my 04', but I have a low exit/ slash cut out the side. I had my undertail custom molded so no issues. If you go the air ride route you will have to look at all of the clearance with the stock set up, thats why I got rid of mine.
What I did find though is that with the air ride full down with two inch lowerinf links it will definitely hit the tail and then some, so i put the stock/factory links back in so when it's full down or there is a mishap and I
loose an air line I have about an inch and a half clearance.
Hope this helps

Use the althread adjustable links....set it with ZERO air and so the pipes are pinky width off the tire. Good to go with what ever you do then ( line break or anything ).
