New 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R Photo Released
Tuesday, July 06, 2010
The first real image of Kawasaki's all-new 2011 Ninja ZX-10R surfaced today. It's hard to tell much from this angle, only that there’s no question it’s totally revamped. Kawasaki just released this new image of their highly-anticipated 2011 Ninja ZX-10R in the flesh - sort of. This shows the bike in semi-race trim, fully clad in beautiful carbon fiber skins from head to toe, no debut getting ready for pre-production testing.
Several features stick out from this new image, first being the massive ram-air intake in the snout of the upper fairing. This is no doubt a straight shot through the headstock area of the frame and into the airbox and looks to be fairly bigger in size and positioned lower than the current ZX-10R.
Black anodized forks grace the front end with Brembo Superbike-spec monobloc brakes. Whether or not those are production-based items or World Superbike racing-spec parts will have to be seen when more details come available. More than likely the fork is Showa’s BPF unit, which they have had great success with on its current ZX-6R model and has reportedly been in testing on the new 10R for some time now. Another interesting note on this test mule is that Kawasaki’s trademark petal-type front brake rotors are not employed. Have they done away with this technology or are these some kind of race-only units? Only time will tell, though they look far more like production-based items than kit race parts - at least to the naked eye.
Rumors are swirling that Kawasaki is claiming 190 hp and a 435-lb wet weight. That compares very closely with the 193 hp and 448-lb wet weight that BMW touts from its current class-topping S1000RR. The other big question is how advanced will the motorcycle's electronics be? With BMW and Ducati coming standard with full wheel-speed-sensor-based traction control, one would think to keep pace Kawasaki would need to do the same.
The boys in green, or black in this case, are set to test this week (7/7 and 7/8) at Suzuki in Japan. No word as to who will be testing the bike, but I wouldn’t be surprised if several current Kawasaki World Superbike racers were on hand to spin laps on the development machine.
One more thing also becomes ever clearer as new images and details are released: The anticipation to ride the new ZX is growing wildly out of control. I…must…ride… now… The 2011 Ninja ZX10R is quickly becoming one of the most eagerly-awaited in the sportbike world for next season! So be sure to stay tuned for more updates as soon as they become available.

Looks like they're going in the right direction with the exhaust.
