Hopefully this will help out the ZX7 owners wanting a 240 and custom bike builders to have another option they can offer if they are asked for ZX7 240 kits.
MrZXR has been looking into putting a stronger swingarm to better handle the 250+ rear wheel hp (currently runs a P model swingarm) and also doing a 240 for his turbo ZXR 750/900 (called ZX7 in the states), and with the ZX14 being able to put a 240 on the standard swingarm Josh started to look into if the ZX14 swingarm will fit the ZXR.
On Moday Josh had a call from Ben Shaw at Extreme Creations here in Sydney, Ben had a ZX14 swingarm and a J model ZXR frame around the shop so he did a trial fit. The ZXR / ZX7 swingarms from J,L,M,P models thats from years 1991 to 2002 are all interchangeable.
The result
It fits, straight bolt up although the dogbone mount may need a slight mod or offset dogbones made as they are not totally in line.
Josh is now on the hunt for a ZX14 swingarm to get the 240 project moving:BigTeethSmile:
Will update as the project progresses.
Cheers,
Matt
